Valentine’s Day is a time to celebrate connection, love and affection with your partner, family, friends, and fur babies.

For many people the day can bring feelings of loneliness, anxiety and sadness. Mental health is a critical aspect of overall wellbeing and it is essential to recognize how days like today can impact those around us.

The most important person to celebrate with is yourself. You will be the only person who will be with you for your entire life!

Today, in addition to celebrating the love we have for others, let’s also embrace the journey of self appreciation, care, and understanding.

Honesty is often uncomfortable.

In fact it is often highly uncomfortable, so uncomfortable many of us avoid it because of past experiences where telling our truth led to shame, rejection, or abandonment.

Learning to tell the truth is a practice.

For many of us we want to tell “little white lies”, withold or create a different narrative to not upset anyone or to protect ourselves.

True emotional intimacy is built on the truth.

This doesn’t mean we have to share every single part of our internal world, personal thoughts or intricate details of our past.

It means we commit to the practice of embracing reality and being comfortable telling someone a truth even if it wont make someone feel “good”. It means we stop self censoring and start showing up authentically, as we are.

This is how we establish trust.

When we build a relationship where the truth is valued, we can trust someone’s word and heal our attachment wounds.

It’s meant to be uncomfortable, the discomfort is only temporary and worth it for the intimacy you gain within yourself and relationship.

We are well and truly into 2025

The year 2025 adds up to 9 (2+0+2+5=9) in numerology, which is all about endings, growth and helping others. It’s a year to reflect on the past, close old chapters, and focus on making positive changes in your life and the lives of those around you. It’s time to finish what’s unfinished and grow from those experiences.

If you have been thinking about taking action and making positive changes, the team at The Bigger Picture Clinic is here to support you.

It can be anxiety provoking just inviting the idea of engaging in therapy, let alone taking that first step and making the first call.

Knowing just how hard it can be to reach out, we work to make the process as easy as possible.

By going to the website of the clinic you can scroll through and read about all the clinicians who are there to support you. Invite yourself to see if one of their profiles calls out to you (this can also be a daunting process). If you are unsure, just click on other and our director, Monique will reach out to you and support you to see which clinician aligns with you. Maybe there are more than one that appeals which is absolutely no problem, Monique can discuss how you want to approach a first session. Whatever the process looks like for you we are here to support you.

This year we have some exciting workshops entering the space as well as several new blocks of 8-week group therapy which will be starting across the year.
